The support forms part of the second phase of the “Back-to-School” project initiated by the Tema East Member of Parliament Mr. Isaac Ashai Odamten, in collaboration with the Tema East Educational Foundation.
Mr. Odamtten told the media in Tema during the donation that the gesture was to lighten the burden parents go through to provide such basic needs when school re-opens.
He noted that the provision was also to make the transition to the secondary level of education smooth for first-year students.
The Tema East MP said although not all the students in the constituency could benefit from this year's programme, he was hopeful that more students would benefit in the coming years.
He said this year's ceremony had been divided into two phases and that the second phase would take place at Tema New Town and called on industries in Tema to support the “Tema East MP’s Back-To-School” programme.
