The district currently has one major market centre located at Diaso, where most trading and commercial activities are concentrated. This market serves as the principal hub for economic transactions within the district.

In addition to the Diaso market, the Assembly in collaboration with the market committee is in advanced discussions toward the development of the Ayanfuri market, which is expected to operate on Sundays, subject to final approval and implementation.

Aside from these major centres, most other markets in the district are small, daily markets located in a few communities. However, many of these facilities are in a dilapidated state and require urgent redevelopment.

The poor condition of market infrastructure has also affected revenue mobilization, as a significant portion of potential internally generated funds is being lost to neighboring districts, particularly the Bia West District and the Upper Denkyira East Municipal District, which benefit from trading activities of residents.

In response, the District Assembly has outlined plans to invest more resources into the development of modern market infrastructure across various communities. This includes the provision of physical structures and supporting facilities as well as the construction of new area market centres within the Area Councils.

The initiative is expected to improve local trading activities, enhance revenue generation, and boost economic growth within the district.

The Assembly has reaffirmed its commitment to addressing infrastructure gaps in the market sector as part of broader efforts to strengthen the local economy and improve livelihoods.
