He said one of the reasons for the commissioning of the new court is to ensure that defaulters in taxes and levies to the assembly are sanctioned using the courts.

According to him, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is focused on delivering good governance required to improve the well-being of all, hence the need for Ghanaians to contribute their quota through taxes.

He made this known during the inauguration of the District Magistrate Court at Sowutum in the Municipal capital.

According to Mr. Adu, the District Magistrate court represents the rule of law, adding that policies on sanitation, for example, could only be effective if people changed their attitude and went back to pick the culture of the past where women, in particular, carried baskets to do their shopping in the markets.

He, therefore, used the opportunity to advise the people to keep dust bins around their vicinities to help them keep a healthy and hygienic environment. “If you are caught of dumping refuse anywhere in the municipality, we will hand you to the Magistrate, he said.
