Ga East Host Zone 7 of G/A Regional Composite Budget Hearing

The Ga East Municipal Assembly (GEMA) has hosted the Greater Accra Regional Composite Budget Hearing for Zone Seven (7) for the second time in the year at the Grand Star Hotel, North Atomic.

The Ga East Municipal, Adentan Municipal, and Shai Osudoku District Assemblies constituted the Zone 7 of the Regional Budget Hearings which was organized by the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) and aimed at peer reviewing the planned activities and budget for this year and projections for 2023.

The program was supervised and coordinated by the Regional Budget Analyst, Mr. Sammy Lee
Simpiney, with representatives from the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, Mr. Victor Enninful,
Madam Vera Ofori, together with Mr. Richmond Antwi Boateng and Ayisha Saeed from the GARCC constitutes the Hearing Panel.

The Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency, Dr. Eric Oduro Osae was present to support the review panel.

The participating Assemblies, after their presentations were critiqued and assessed by the panel and advised on ways to address bottlenecks identified in their presentations while commending them for the efforts they put in their presentations.

The presentation for Ga East was done jointly by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Mrs. Elizabeth Kaakie Mann, and the Municipal Budget Analyst, Mr. Benedicta Obeng Nyarko, Adentan by Mr. Isaac Appiah the Municipal Budget Analyst and Shai Osudoku District by the District Chief Executive (DCE) Mr. Fred Ofei and District Budget Analyst, Mr. Joshua J. Konde.

Delivering the welcome address the MCE for Ga East underscored the need for the Assemblies to develop policies and programmes to dovetail into the national development policy framework to complement efforts being made by the Government to address the economic crisis the nation faces.

“In these times we find ourselves in, our people have high expectations from us as political heads of our various institutions not only to justify the confidence His Excellency the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has reposed in us, but also of our dexterity and alacrity in helping him fix our economic downturn” She said
Mrs. Kaakie Mann further urged her colleagues to educate their field officers to approach their clients and stakeholders with a friendly, decorous attitude, noting that such is needed in the prevailing economic situation.

“We have the mandate to generate the appropriate revenue from our people but it is important we conscientize our frontline officers on how to engage the people in discharging this duty. Good communication and human relations will do us a lot good and help us gain and retain their trust and confidence “She stated.
