Nkwanta South Municipal Assembly donates to PWDs

The Nkwanta South Municipal Assembly has distributed items such as poly tank, bee hives, barbering equipment, lifting machines, cutlasses, electric sewing machine, deep freezers, plastic chairs, among others to Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) from their District Assemblies Common Fund.

Mr. John Thasun, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the area during the presentation noted that PWDs in the Municipal will be treated fairly in accessing social, economic and development opportunities adding that organizations and civil society groups should engage more constructively in understanding and addressing the challenges of persons with disabilities.

He said, changing the negative mindset about PWDs must begin at home and reinforced in the educational and public institutions because they are also entitled to the same rights and privileges defined under the 1992 constitution of Ghana.

Mr.Thasun added that the initiative will provide employment, alleviate poverty and economically empower them in productive activities to improve their living standards.
