Kintampo Municipal Assembly inaugurates Zonal Councils

An important component of the decentralization process is the formation of zonal councils that are relied on to manage some sections of the district in the area of communal labor to clean up the communities in which we live in, revenue mobilization to build up some projects in the communities data gathering among others.

The Kintampo Municipality has four (4) Zonal Councils which consist of Babator Zonal Council, Kadelso Zonal Council, New Longoro Zonal Council and Kintampo Zonal Council.

These councils are set up to manage the affairs of the municipality. With these committees such as; Develop Service Committee and Finances and Administration committee formed to manage the activities in our communities and furnish the Municipal Assembly with their reports and achievements.

After this year’s District Assembly Elections, the Kintampo Municipal has inaugurated the four zonal councils in the municipality at a short ceremony at the various zonal Councils.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kintampo Municipal Assembly Mr. Isaac Baffeo Ameyaw was much honored to be part of this very important inaugural ceremony and was delighted that this committees inaugurated would be working hard towards the development of the municipality, adding that “ members should not add partisan politics in the discharge of their duties.

The Municipal Chief Executive again stated that Committee members should work hard, remain united and understand each other’s views most especially with the chiefs to enable them to generate revenue from their communities.

He encouraged them to create watchdog committees, coming together to organize communal labor for cleaning or projects such as building toilets facilities, social activities including festivals and others that can generate incomes.

Chiefs invited for the inaugural ceremony were grateful for the hour given them and hoppy to be educated on some responsibilities and activities of zonal councils within their community.

They pledged to support the committees in the development of their communities and Kintampo Municipality at large.
