This follows the government's release of the first tranche of GHs 25 million in July to support Assembly Members across the country.

The funds, meant to cover allowances for April and May, have since been distributed to all 261 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) across the country with each Assembly Member is expected to receive GHs 2,600 to aid their work within their electoral areas.

In an interview with Ghanadistricts.com, Mr. Adamu Musah confirmed that the assembly had completed all necessary procedures and processes, including resolving taxation issues.

He therefore added that the funds would soon be credited to beneficiaries' accounts to help support their work.

He expressed optimism that the allowance would empower Assembly Members to effectively monitor local projects and programmes.

The MCE also used the opportunity to commend the government for the initiative and called for continued support to strengthen local governance and decentralization efforts.
