Adaklu gets a modern slaughterhouse
Reverend Johnson Avuletey, Deputy Volta Regional Minister has commissioned a modern slaughterhouse in Adaklu to stop the practice of slaughtering animals in bushes for commercial use.

The facility, located at Adaklu Waya animal market has offices for veterinary and environmental officers, revenue staff from the Assembly, a cold room, slaughter apartment, and washrooms.
It costs GH¢ 186,338.78 and funded by the Adaklu District Development Fund (DDF) and completed in four months.
Rev. Avuletey commended the Assembly for the foresight and efforts at making the District preferred the 'meat market' for clients in and outside the region.
Mr. Francis Dzata, Deputy Environmental Health Officer in the District said the facility would improve sanitation in the area and prevent zoonotic diseases.
Mr. Phanuel Donkor Kadey, the District Chief Executive said the Assembly would soon construct state-of-the-art market sheds to make Adaklu animal market the choice of all.
He asked the people to make good use of the slaughterhouse and desist from indiscriminate slaughtering of cows and other animals without the supervision of veterinary and environmental health officers.
Mr Kadey said the Assembly remained committed to improving the lots of the people and hinted that soon, offices for a District Police Station, District Police Headquarters, and the Electoral Commission would be outdoored to bring those services closer to the people.
The DCE also reassured of efforts to extend potable water to many communities by December this year and improve the road network in the District.
Mr. Abdulai Nuhu, Spokesperson for traders in the animal market said the commissioning of the slaughterhouse was a dream come true and expressed gratitude to the Assembly for the investment.
He said, "an animal market without a slaughterhouse is useless," and assured that the facility would be put to good use.
