The district currently does not have a government district hospital, a situation that continues to pose major challenges to effective healthcare delivery and emergency medical services.

Available health infrastructure within the district includes three health centres and sixteen functional CHPS zones out of the eighteen demarcated electoral areas. In addition, two CHPS compounds are currently under construction at Ananekrom and Besease to improve healthcare accessibility for residents.

Healthcare delivery in the district is further supported by three private clinics and one maternity home, which complement public health services and provide essential medical care to residents.

Despite these facilities, the absence of a government hospital means that many patients often have to be referred to the Dunkwa Government Hospital and other health facilities in adjoining districts for specialized treatment and emergency care.

The situation has negatively affected healthcare delivery, particularly during emergencies, as poor road conditions linking the district to neighboring health facilities continue to delay referrals and transportation of patients.

Residents have expressed concern over the loss of lives during referral periods due to the deplorable nature of roads within the district and have therefore called for urgent government intervention to improve both healthcare infrastructure and road networks.

The District Assembly continues to advocate for the establishment of a government hospital in the district to improve access to quality healthcare and reduce the burden of referrals on residents.
