According to the Mayor, the consistent mobilisation of adequate revenue remains critical to funding essential infrastructure projects, improving public services, and boosting the morale of Assembly workers.

Mayor Allotey encouraged the collectors on Thursday at the Accra City Hall during his routine early morning visits and interactions with staff and visitors at the Assembly’s premises to directly connect and monitor the progress of key operational activities.

He noted that revenue collectors should not be limited by perceived boundaries in the discharge of their duties, stressing that the scope of collection should be as extensive as the law allows to ensure no eligible revenue is left uncollected.

He explained that the Assembly’s system of commission-based incentives meant that collectors who mobilised more funds would proportionally benefit from higher commissions.

“The more you collect, the higher your commission. It is in your interest and in the interest of the city you serve,” he said.

Mayor Allotey also urged staff to always maintain professionalism and transparency, adding that public confidence in the Assembly’s operations depended on the conduct of frontline officers.
