Mr Jonathan Teye Doku, Ningo-Prampram District Chief Executive, said the Assembly does not know those caterers and would therefore not work with them.

Mr Doku disclosed this when he joined the congregation of the Ebenezer Methodist Church to worship during a foundation stone laying programme.

He explained that his outfit thought it wise to award school feeding contract to caterers from the district as a way of creating jobs in the area.

He further stated that his administration lobbied for additional 11 schools to be added to the existing six enjoying the school feeding programme in the area.

According to him, before they knew, some caterers who were not known in the District had been contracted to cook without consultation with the Assembly.

Mr Doku said he stopped them from cooking for the children while contacting the School Feeding Secretariat to resolve the issue.

He therefore appealed to parents of beneficiary schools to bear with the Assembly as the move was to enable caterers from the area to be contracted.

“Please understand why I stopped them from cooking, it’s not because I don’t want the children to enjoy the programme but rather to ensure that caterers from this area get jobs to do,” he added.
