Mayor updates GTC on Agenda 111, ongoing developmental projects

The Mayor of Accra, Elizabeth Kwatsoe Sackey has briefed the Ga Traditional Council (GTC) on the status of the Agenda 111 project, a flagship initiative geared towards transforming the healthcare infrastructure in the country and other ongoing developmental projects in the metropolis.

Mayor Sackey provided the traditional leaders with detailed insights into the hospital project when she paid a courtesy call to the Traditional leaders on Monday.

The Agenda 111 initiative, inaugurated by President Akufo-Addo on August 17, 2021, aims to among other things construct a total of 111 district hospitals throughout the country to improve access to healthcare.

Briefing the media on the key takeaways and decisions made during the meeting which was held closed door, the Mayor reiterated the significance of collaborative efforts between city authorities and traditional leaders in driving sustainability emphasising the Assembly's commitment to transparency and community engagement.

She noted that the Kaneshie Polyclinic was absorbed into the government’s Agenda 111 project, adding that the project would adopt a phased approach to offer a strategic and practical means to manage resources, and minimize disruptions, ultimately contributing to the success and sustainability of the project.

"To properly monitor the progress of the project, a strategy had been devised to construct the hospital in phases... This is to help in minimizing disruptions among others, " she said.

In addition to the healthcare projects, the Mayor also touched upon other key developmental undertakings, including infrastructural improvements, waste management initiatives, and educational advancements within the city.

The meeting concluded with a commitment from both the Mayor and the Ga Traditional Council to continue collaborating closely on future projects and initiatives.
