The DCE said this when handed over a site for the proposed construction of the Kadjebi district hospital under the government’s Agenda 111 District Hospitals projects.
He noted that the project would not only inure to the benefit of the people in terms of much needed health interventions but also in the area of youth employment and local economic development (LED).
He therefore called on the consultant and the contractors to ensure that majority of the workforce are sourced from across the district and also make sure materials for the construction are procured within the district.
The DCE assured them of the full commitment of the Assembly and all the Traditional Authorities within the district and urged them to do their work diligently, and also indicated that the project is the first project under the Agenda 111 to be implemented in the Oti Region.
The lead Consultant for the project, Mr. Larry Attipoe, assured the DCE of their willingness to resume work as soon as practicable and was hopeful the work would be delivered within the 18 month period given, adding that they were conscious of the LED component and said majority of the labour and artisans would be recruited from the district.
The 100 bed facility when completed will contain facilities such as the OPD and maternity wards as well as accidents and Emergency Centre and would be fitted with state-of-the-art equipment to ensure efficient and quality healthcare delivery services.
