Despite significant progress in expanding health services, municipal authorities have identified inadequate health infrastructure, shortages of medical equipment and limited logistics support as major challenges affecting healthcare delivery within the area.

Information available to GhanaDistricts.com indicates that the municipality currently records a doctor-to-patient ratio of approximately 1:9,391, underscoring the need for additional healthcare professionals and investments in health facilities to meet the growing demands of the population.

The municipality currently operates a network of healthcare facilities comprising the Dormaa Presbyterian Hospital, health centres, Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds and outreach points serving communities across the municipality and adjoining districts.

However, health officials say inadequate vehicles for outreach activities, limited motorbikes for community health services and insufficient staff accommodation in peripheral communities continue to hamper service delivery efforts.

The Assembly has therefore prioritised interventions aimed at expanding health infrastructure, improving logistics support and strengthening community healthcare services to enhance access to quality medical care.

Authorities say the interventions are expected to improve maternal and child healthcare services, strengthen disease surveillance and reduce the burden on existing facilities within the municipality.

The Assembly has reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with the Ghana Health Service, development partners and the central government to bridge the infrastructure gap and improve health outcomes for residents.
