According to Mr Joseph Ackah, Nkwanta District Police Commander the deceased was shot in the neck as he returned to the residency with his special assistant and began searching for his mobile phone from his official vehicle at about 2000 hours.

He said the deceased was rushed to the Saint Josephs hospital in town but was pronounced dead on arrival with his remains lodged at the morgue.

Mr Gershon Gbediame, Member of Parliament for Nkwanta South who was shock-stricken by the barbaric act said what was astonishing was the absence of any hostility, tension or conflict in the area to warrant such cowardice behaviour.

He feared this could escalate but took consolation that the stand-in military detachment from Kpassa, in the Nkwanta North District and the Police have risen to stabilize the situation.

Mr Gbediame appealed to the people to remain calm and allow the security apparatus to delve into the matter and also volunteer information that could assist in arresting the culprits.
