Mr Patrick Jilimah, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) told the Ghana News Agency that the Assembly was unhappy that they did not meet their target of GH¢ 160,000 last year hence the decision to re-strategise and engage young effective casual revenue collectors.

He said the Assembly was also working with traditional authorities and sensitising the public on property rates to improve on the 70 per cent they got on targeted revenue in 2017.

"We are working on some major projects such as markets and school infrastructure so we need to increase our IGF," Mr Jilimah stated.

He was happy with the Municipality's progress in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) with an improvement by 30 per cent, comparing the 15 per cent it recorded in 2016 to 45 per cent in 2017.

Mr Jilimah commended the efforts of the Municipal Education Directorate and Mr Michael Dzato, Deputy Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, and Member of Parliament for the area, for free registration of students from the area for the BECE.

On health, he said the Assembly was supporting the Extended Immunisation Programme with GH¢ 10,000 and establishing Community-Based Health Planning and Services compounds at Kparekpare, Kanyase, and Adakope.

Mr Jilimah said bush fires remained a threat to the “Planting for Food and Jobs" initiative but efforts were underway to address the challenge.
