TAIN: Census officials undergo training

Training Programme for about 231 made up of Enumerators and Supervisors for the upcoming Population and Housing Census has taken off smoothly in Nsawkaw, the Tain district capital.

Mr. Eugene Ametepeh, the District Census Officer in his welcome address said this year’s census is the first digital Population and Housing Census in the Country and its equally important that the field officers master the contents of the manual and the use of the tablets in order to be successful.

He said, with the data collection, the Ghana Statistical Service have also instituted real-time data quality monitoring mechanisms to scrutinize the data that are collected on daily basis to be able to identify errors and make sure they are corrected while the Field officers are in the field, this he said will enhance the accuracy the accuracy of the data collected.


The District Census Officer urged the Trainees to strive to carryout their duties in adherence to with the enumeration procedures that they will be taught.

He also reminded them the use of technology offers management an opportunity to monitor the movement of enumerators and supervisors, timing and origin of interacting with servers.

On his part, Mr. Kumi Acheaw, chairman of the District Census implementation committee congratulated the trainees for passing through a competitive selection process made of 665 applicants.

He advised them to take the training serious since only 160 out of the 231 participants will be selected for the exercise based on their competency to help get accurate data for the country.
