Gomoa East records 38 accidents in 6 months
About seventeen lives have been lost whiles forty-four (44) persons also sustained various degrees of injuries in Thirty-eight (38) separate accidents cases recorded from January to June, 2019 in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.

The accidents involve 21, 14, 3 private and commercial vehicles and motorbikes respectively. In all, 10 cases out of the 38 accident cases recorded were considered fatal.
District Chief Executive (DCE) of the area, Mr Solomon Darko-Quarm revealed these shocking figures while addressing Assembly Members and other Heads of Departments (HoDs) at the Assembly’s first ordinary meeting held at Potin, the district capital.
The DCE, in his keynote address described the statistics as very alarming, hence the need for all and sundry to intervene to improve the situation.
He noted that, the Assembly has started mounting checkpoints as temporary measures to help control the disturbing development.
The DCE further implored Assembly members to educate and sensitize their communities about some simple road traffic regulations in order to avoid “some of these accidents and deaths since most of them are preventable.”
