Kwabre East: Committee to investigate and eliminate violence in the municipality

The Municipal Chief Executive for Kwabre East, Nana Osei Asibey Bonsu has set up a committee to investigate and eliminate violence in the municipality concerning the recent clash between the Asante Youth and the Zongo Community.

The committee members include the Zongo community, three (3) members from the Chieftaincy Institution and the clergy to investigate the cause of the mayhem since they are at the grassroots’ and can easily identify the criminal elements and bring them too order.

At a recent District Security Council (DISEC) meeting following the clashes between the two communities, Mr. Bonsu disclosed that some measures have been taken to reduce violence in the municipality.

He added that the clash was not based on religion or tribalism, adding that DISEC has admitted to close down “funeral party” after 6:00 Pm and also cease the need for advertising the dead on the streets whenever there is a demise of a citizen in the municipality.

Mr. Bonsu said that the committee would investigate the cause of the clash and also report out criminal activities in the municipality, whiles the police would also arrest all dealers in marijuana, weed, cocaine among others in the community.

He said that the police would do thorough investigation and disclose those involved in the clash.

He added that police are already doing their best to protect the lives and properties in the community.
