Awutu Senya Assembly to invest in priority projects in 2014

The Awutu-Senya West Assembly has budgeted GHs 3,425,337.96 towards the execution of priority projects and programmes in the district in 2014.

The projects and programmes would be funded with Internally Generated Fund (IGF), District Assembly Common Fund, District Development Fund (DDF), and Government of Ghana grant.

Mr. Sampson Armah Abbey Quaye, the District Chief Executive, said this at an Assembly meeting held at Awutu Beraku to approve their 2014 budget and fee fixing resolution.

He said the projects to be carried out include rehabilitation works at Bawjiase market, street lights, counterpart fund on rural enterprise project and rural technology facility.

On social activities he said the Assembly would support the District Directorates of Ghana Education Service and Ghana Health Service, support gender action plan, classroom block with auxiliary facilities at Olotum construction and Senya.

He said the Assembly would work on the final disposal site, waste management activities, construction of Awutu Beraku market drains and disaster management.

The Assembly will award scholarships to brilliant but needy students, incentives to be given to female teachers posted to deprived communities and also support science technology, mathematics education clinics.

He said they will also carry out routine maintenance on Bawjiase-Ayeasuako, Bawjiase-Aponkye Akura, Fianko-Dfadaa, Dankwa Junction, Okwabena-Ofaso roads.

Mr Quaye appealed to members to sensitize their community members on the need to honour their tax obligations.
