Sunyani West Assembly enforces the use of nose mask

The Sunyani West Municipal Assembly in the Bono Region has stepped up efforts to enforce the use of nose mask in the municipality to prevent the possible spread of the coronavirus.

The move comes after the Jaman North District in the region confirmed one positive case of the virus, causing fear and panic among residents in the Region.

Mr. Martin Obeng, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Sunyani West and the COVID-19 Rapid Response Team in the municipality have begun enforcing the use of nose mask and social distancing rules as a preventive measure. A total of one thousand (1000) nose masks have been distributed free to residents that do not have in Odomase, the capital, and Fiapre, who were engaged in various economic activities.

The MCE said the use of the nose mask was now compulsory in the municipality to prevent the virus. He also advised residents to practice social distancing rules to avoid contact with each other, where they can be easily infected by an infected person.

Also, Mr. Martin Obeng reminded residents to continue to adhere to all the COVID-19 protocols which include regular hand washing under running water for 20 minutes, frequent use of sanitizers, avoid touching your face, and close contact with other persons.

Residents of Odumase and Fiapre who received the nose masks from the Assembly thanked the MCE and government for providing them with the nose mask, in efforts to save their lives and as a preventive measure.

Mr. Martin Obeng commended market women and other residents who were already using the nose mask for protection and urged them to continue the practice till the pandemic is over.

The items distributed were Personal Protective Equipment’s (PPEs) received from the Ministry of Local Government through the Bono Regional Co-Coordinating Council.

They include 2000 Nose mask, 5 boxes of sensitizers, 10 Infrared thermometer guns, 1 bail of nose mask material, 50 Dustbins 240 of litres and 40 Dustbins of 20 litres.
