From Reading to Reward: How 32 Pupil lit up Reading Festival

A celebration of literacy, determination and academic excellence unfolded in the Atwima Mponua District as 32 exceptional pupils competed in the grand finale of the District Reading Festival, an event aimed at inspiring a lifelong love for reading among schoolchildren on the 21st July 2026 at the Nyinahin Catholic Senior High School Auditorium.

Held under the theme, “Turn a Page to Begin a Journey,” the festival was made possible through the sponsorship of the Ismat Foundation and the support of the District Chief Executive, Hon. Issahak Ibrahim, whose commitment to improving education in the district was evident throughout the event.

The finalists, drawn from four educational zones across the district, earned their places after emerging as winners in their respective circuit and zonal reading competitions. Their confidence, fluency and passion for reading transformed the competition into an inspiring showcase of young talent and academic promise.

In recognition of their hard work and dedication, Hon. Issahak Ibrahim personally presented each participant with a school bag, describing the gesture as a symbol of encouragement for the pupils to continue striving for excellence.

Addressing participants and guests after the competition, the DCE expressed profound appreciation to the Ismat Foundation for sponsoring prizes for all the winners and ensuring that every child left the event with a reward.

“The Foundation’s unwavering commitment to education and child development deserves commendation. Partnerships like this create meaningful opportunities for our children and inspire them to dream bigger,” he said.

One of the defining moments of the festival was the presentation of the Most Improved GALOP School in Ghana Award to Abofrem Anglican Primary School. The prestigious recognition was presented by the Atwima Mponua District Director of Education, Miss Ama Adwubi Asafo Adjaye, in honour of the school’s remarkable progress and dedication to quality education.

The atmosphere throughout the event reflected more than just competition. Smiles from pupils, proud teachers and appreciative parents painted a picture of hope, reminding everyone that investments in education continue to shape the future of communities.

Congratulating all the contestants, teachers, parents and organisers, Hon. Issahak Ibrahim urged stakeholders to sustain efforts to build a strong reading culture across the district. He stressed that encouraging children to read today is an investment in the leaders, innovators and nation-builders of tomorrow.
