Assembly Members reiterate calls for monthly allowance payments

The presiding member for Hohoe Municipal Assembly Derrick Adjei has called on government through the newly elected NALAG president to initiate a process to make assembly members receive a monthly allowance to enable them work efficiently in their communities.

According to him, the assembly members serve as agents for development in their electoral areas, attending programmmes which are organized in the Municipality by both the central government and assembly as well as donating items to support the marginalized persons the society as such they need some supports to continue to deliver.

 

Mr. Adjei made these statements at the just ended NALAG Biennial conference in the Bono Region.

 

He indicated that since they do not receive monthly allowance, it makes them unable to perform the aforementioned duties effectively to enable them acquire the needed projects for their electoral areas to improve the living conditions of the people.

 

In another development, the Presiding Member said the assumption of office by the newly elected NALAG president will make the assembly members records a number of projects in their areas since he is coming up with new developments.

 

He said the policies outlined by the President will define the local governance system and serve as a major boost for the development of this country especially rural community.
