The fire reportedly started in a locked room before spreading rapidly to other parts of the building. Eyewitnesses said the occupant of the room sustained serious injuries in the process.

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) reportedly faced challenges in fighting the blaze due to the absence of a fire tender. Firefighters were therefore compelled to rely on a DRIP water tanker and water supplied by private individuals to battle the fire.

Although residents made frantic efforts to contain the situation, the intensity of the fire overwhelmed them, resulting in the complete destruction of the building.

The injured victim has since been referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for further treatment.

Fire Officer Adjei Nti Samuel confirmed the incident and explained that firefighters had to improvise with the resources available to bring the situation under control.

The affected residents have expressed frustration over the extent of the damage and renewed concerns about the challenges faced by the community in responding to emergencies.
