Don’t Politicize Agric Census - ISD Dep. Director
The Information Services Department (ISD) in the Brong Ahafo Region has intensified publicity campaign on the 2018 Agriculture Census currently being undertaken by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) and the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) nationwide.

To ensure its success, MoFA and GSS is liaising and collaborating with the ISD mount publicity and awareness creation for residents to understand and appreciate the importance of the exercise to ensure full cooperation between farmers and the enumerators.
The ISD is therefore deploying vans, door to door, use of community information centres, radio stations and farmers durbar as a strategy to sensitize the public nationwide with a call to residents not to politicize the exercise.
The ISD have so far held the farmers durbars in Techiman, Dormaa and Bechem in addition to the deployment of vans to communities to conduct the publicity exercise.
Mr. Isaac Dupey, a Deputy Director in charge of Regional Coordination of the Information Services Department (ISD), at one of such farmer’s durbar organized at Ayomso in the Asunafo North Municipality of the Brong Ahafo Region appealed to Ghanaians not to politicize the exercise in the country.
The exercise, he noted was important and necessary as it will assist government and institutions for planning and research purposes.
He explained the exercise is to collate and collect accurate and reliable information on agricultural activities in the country and not for tax purposes.
Mr. Dupey therefore, appealed to farmers to cooperate with the enumerators make the results of the census reliable for planning and research purposes.
The Regional Information Officer (RIO), Imoro Ayibani for his part tasked municipal and district information officers to intensify the public campaigns to enhance the success of the exercise.
He noted farmers and residents will fully cooperate with enumerators only when they are given the right information and therefore called on government and donor agencies to assist in resourcing the department to effectively and efficiently discharge its mandate.
The Deputy Director of ISD is currently a monitoring mission of the exercise.
