STMA donates street lights to Artisans
The Metropolitan Chief Executive of Sekondi-Takoradi, Abdul Mumin-Issah has presented 200 pieces of street lights to the executives of Takoradi Kokompe Artisans to light up the area.

The donation was made in response to a request by the Artisans through the management of Takoradi Sub Metropolitan District Council to improve the lighting and security situation in the Kokompe area.
In his address, Abdul Mumin-Issah said, when an area is lit particularly in the evening, it scares off armed robbers and miscreants who usually take advantage of darkness to perpetuate illegal acts. He noted that the presentation forms part of the Assembly’s plans to improve security in the area to protect lives and properties.
He added that the Assembly has marked all unauthorized structures believed to be used for prostitution, robbing and other criminal activities for demolition as the situation has generated some insecurity for residents and visitors.
Mayor Mumin also stated that he has tasked the Administrator of Takoradi Sub Metro, Nana Asempanaye Yeboah to liaise with the Takoradi District Police Command to establish a Police Post within the enclave.
He assured the Artisans of the Assembly’s commitment to improve security in and around the area in order to protect their livelihoods.
He also urged them to collaborate with the Police and feed them with relevant information on the activities of the miscreants within the area. He finally urged the executives to share the lights equitably among the zones to ensure total illumination
The Director of Takoradi Sub-Metro, Nana Asempanaye Yeboah in his welcome remarks commended the cordial relationship that has existed between his office and the executives of Takoradi Kokompe Artisans.
He encouraged the Artisans to work together with the Assembly especially on the payment of their rates and fees to ensure more developments and support towards their businesses.Mr. Justice Jeo Aryittey, Regional Chairman of Ghana Garages Association on behalf of the Artisans thanked the Mayor and STMA for the gesture. He noted that the presentation will go a long way to solve the insecurity in the area.
