BONGO: DCE lauds government for reducing prices of fertilizer
The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Bongo in the Upper East Region, Mr. Ayimbisa Peter Ayamga has lauded government for drastically reducing the prices of agric inputs such as fertilizer to help boost agriculture activities.

Government, in April this year announced the reduction of fertilizers from GHs 150 to GHs 57.50, a move they said was to help boost the "planting for food and jobs" flagship initiative by the Akuffo Addo administration and also increase agric production to feed the country and provide raw material for the its proposed a from agro-industrialization, "One district, One Factory" initiative.
The programme, according to the President, is aimed at modernising the agricultural sector to improve food production, achieve food security and most importantly create jobs for the teaming unemployed youth across the country.
The programme, have since caught the eyes of many development partners and countries who have opted to support the programme to make it a reality.
Speaking in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com, the DCE applauded government for redeeming its promise by absolving more than two thirds of the original prices of fertilizers. He said, the move by government has really encouraged most of the youth in his district to take active part in the programme.
He noted that aside the over 3000 participants who have already had their names registered onto the system, others interested persons will also be hooked onto the programme in the coming days.
