Francis Okesu’s death confirmed; Gov’t awaiting autopsy report

The District Chief Executive of Achiase, Richmond Amposah Agyebeng, has confirmed the unfortunate demise of Mr. Francis Okesu, the Municipal Chief Executive of Krachi East, whose lifeless body was discovered in a hotel room in Kumasi.

He however, noted that police are yet to unearth the real cause of his untimely death as they are still awaiting his autopsy report.

The DCE, who doubles as national Dean for all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) across the country is also cautioning Ghanaians to desist from drawing unnecessary assumptions into the death of the MCE especially since the police are yet to come up with an accurate report.

“As a national dean I received a call and immediately I called the Ashanti regional dean who also called the Oforikrom MCE. They went there (Hotel) with the police to force open the door of the hotel room and to their surprise they saw the lifeless body of him in the room.”

Mr Agyapong narrated this when speaking in an interview with Kofi Appiah Kubi on Akim Oda based Community Radio, yesterday.

On his part, security expert, Evans Odoi, has added his voice to numerous calls for the government to intensify security of MMDCEs to help avert such situations.

He also charged MMDCEs to be security cautious to help safeguard their lives.

Meanwhile, Mr Francis Okesu, until his untimely death served as Dean for all MDCEs in the Oti Region.
