Sissala East Municipal Directorate of GHS adjudged best service provider

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) in Sissala East Municipality has been adjudged the best provider of quality healthcare in Upper West in a regional ranking that assessed performance of health institutions using 22 indicators.

After being measured against the 22 health indicators, a regional league table ranked health facilities in the Sissala East first with 85 percent mark, while Sissala West District followed as second best among the 11 municipal and districts.

The regional scorecard under the organizational unit included family planning acceptance rate, antenatal coverage (ANC) on tetanus-diphtheria, adolescent attending ANC, ANC clients, pregnant women and skilled deliveries, maternal mortality ratio and institutional neonatal mortality as well as Out-Patient-Department attendance.

Lawra Municipal came 11th with 53.6 coverage average, 77.0 mortalities average and 65.3 in the average of average.

The Sissala East Municipal Health Director, Mr Alex Bapula, called on stakeholders to support efforts aim at improving health service to the people.

He listed open defecation and teenage pregnancy as some challenges that still impeded quality healthcare delivery in communities.

The Sissala West District Chief Executive, Mr Mohammed Bakor, lauded the staff of Ghana Health Service for achieving that feat in spite of numerous challenges facing them.

Other scores included Highly performing, moderately Performing, Stagnating/Sustained Under-Performing, Severely Underperforming.
