She added that the most recent presidential award won by an alumni, Yaa Asantewaa Tabury, is an ample testimony to that effect.
Sister Philipa was interacting with this reporter in her office at Mpatabo, a suburban village of Berekum, in the Brong Ahafo Region on March 8, this year, when returned from the Independence Square in Accra where she partook in the 61st Independence Anniversary Celebration, through which President Addo Dankwaa Akufo Addo conferred the Presidential Award, Basic Education category, on Ms Asantewaa, a current student of St Louis Senior High School in Kumasi.
The Headmistress reiterated lots of laurels chalked in the field of both academia and extra-curricular activities nationwide, as in national debate competitions, quiz contests, sports and recreation amongst others stating further, "With God first on our side, likewise discipline, determination, prayer and dedication we are able to move mountains."
The Reverend Sister dedicated the award to the teachers, parents, the Catholic Church and the students themselves, who remain the key stakeholders in Bishop Owusu's successful track records and, had committed themselves to ensuring that the school's remarkable performance spree continued unabated.
She channeled her advice through the media to Ghanaian students to take their studies seriously; be focused on their aspirations and remain visionary. She urged them not to allow petty constraints and challenges in general to act as impediments against their ambition in future.
Rev. Sister Okwor entreated teachers and parents to endeavour to groom their wards in the spirit of moral uprightness right from the tender age till they were old enough to make decisive choices in life so as to become responsible citizens.
Adu Immanuel, a Social Studies teacher at the Junior High department, in a tete-a-tete with ghanadistricts.com asked his colleague schoolteachers not to rest on their oars but to keep their performances up with a view to receiving their surest rewards knowingly and/or unknowingly.
