Nanumba North District Assembly exceeds revenue target
The Nanumba North District, in 2009, exceeded its revenue target of GH¢ 97,095.00 to GH¢ 114,186.14.

The Assembly has also been able to collect GH¢ 55,679.94 for the period of January to April this year.
The annual target is GH¢ 100,558.00.
Mr. Mohammed Ibin-Abass, District Chief Executive for Nanumba North, announced these at the First Ordinary Meeting of the Sixth Session of the Assembly at Bimbilla, on Tuesday.
Mr. Ibin-Abass also said the district had received a total of GH¢ 1,291,932 as its share of the District assemblies\' Common Fund, adding that, this had been discussed and approved by the Assembly Members for various development projects.
He said the district embarked on various developmental projects in 2009, some of which, included, the construction of three-unit dormitory block with eight-unit bathrooms plus 36 double decker beds for the female students of the Bimbilla Senior High School.
He added that under the Community Wide Assistance Project: a butcher's shop had been provided to the Bincheratanga Community; a three-unit classroom block for the Lepusi High School; and a five-unit market store and a 12-unit market for the Bakpaba Community.
Mr. Ibin-Abass said the construction and furnishing of the Community Health Planning and Service (CHPS) Compound at Nakpa had been completed to help improve upon the quality of health service delivery.
He said the Assembly was also drilling and fitting 10 boreholes, while 15 others were under construction for various communities in the district to provide potable drinking water.
The DCE said there were other interventions to provide potable water to the people of the District through the Northern Regional Small Town Water and Sanitation Project (NORST) within a five-year period.
He said a chunk of the allocation of the 2009 DACF had been used to service some debts, while a Nissan pick-up had been bought for the Assembly with the DCE's and the District Magistrate's bungalows also being rehabilitated.
Mr. Moses Mabengba, the Northern Regional Minister, who also addressed the members, commended them for their contributions to the development of the area and urged them to continue their good works to contribute significantly to the development agenda of the government.
He told them that the government had secured funding for the construction of the Eastern Corridor Roads and work would soon commence, saying that, when completed, travelling to Accra from the North would be shorter.
Mr. Mabengba said the government had also secured 300 million Euros to expand rural electrification projects across the three regions of the north to give the people the taste of urban life.
