The factory which is expected to be completed in December this year will transform cassava production from subsistence farming into a commercially viable agribusiness so as to address rural poverty by bringing the community into mainstream economic activity.

The District Chief Executive (DCE) Mrs. Faustina Amissah who led the sod-cutting ceremony said the rationale behind the factory which forms part of government flagship program One District One Factory is to prevent post harvest losses and add value to cassava production.

She said a group made up of women is already into Gari Processing who will manage the factory once it is completed and also revealed that a Ghanaian businessman had already expressed interest in exporting the Gari from the factory.
