The deployment was undertaken with the support of representatives from the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, including Mr. Stephen Agbo, as well as officers from the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana National Fire Service.
The security agencies provided guidance to the Blue Water Guards on their mandate and the responsibilities involved in safeguarding the municipality's water resources and other environmentally sensitive areas.
The initiative forms part of broader government efforts to protect Ghana's water bodies from activities that threaten their sustainability and undermine environmental conservation.
Speaking on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Paul Osae Offei, the Deputy Director, Ms. Doreen Buobu, urged the Blue Water Guards to carry out their duties with professionalism, discipline and integrity.
She stressed the importance of protecting the municipality's natural resources and encouraged the Guards to remain committed to their responsibilities.
The deployment is expected to strengthen efforts to monitor water bodies, deter environmentally harmful activities and promote sustainable management of natural resources within the Akuapim South Municipality.
The Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with relevant government institutions and security agencies to protect the environment and ensure the sustainable use of the municipality's natural resources.
