Adaklu Senior High Technical to be absorbed by government - Minister

Minister of Education, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, has said government would consider absorbing Adaklu Senior High Technical and other schools after an on-going reform have been concluded.

According to the education Minister, currently, approval for absorption of private schools into public stream is on hold due to on-going reforms within the sector.

Member of Parliament for Adaklu, Kwame Governs Agbodza sort to know when the Adaklu Senior High Technical will be absorbed by Government.

The Minister noted that large number of schools apply every year for absorption into the public stream which has financial implication for government and if not managed properly may overwhelm government.

And added that absorption from private into public stream are planned and implemented in phases.

Inspectors from Ghana Education Service are sent to assess the availability of facilities after which a report is submitted to management for consideration, he said.

Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh further revealed to MPs that for a private school to qualify to be absorbed into the public stream there are some basic conditions that should be met.

The buildings of the schools should not be in a rented premises or temporary structures and there should be land for expansion among others.
