The District Agriculture Director, Abdulai Abdul-Rahman disclosed that some 150 hectares of maize farms spread across 45 communities have recorded cases of the worm infestations, with Kwasuo Electoral area being the worse affected areas.

He said government has taken some measures to curtail the spread with the release of some chemicals to be distributed to farmers for spraying. The measure though positive, the Agric Director requested for more for effective work to be done.

Meanwhile, the District Chief Executive, Christian Baah visited some farms in the district to ascertain the extent of damage.

The DCE has therefore put in place a task force to supervise the mass spraying of the affected area.

The task force is headed by the District Agric Director, with directors of CHED, QQ director, DEHO, and ADIIB as members.
