WASSA A W: George Agyiri inspects educational facilities prior to reopening of schools

In line with the directives by President Nana Akufo-Addo on the reopening of schools, the Municipal Chief Executive of Wassa Amenfi East, George Agyiri inspected educational facilities in the two secondary schools within the municipality to access their level of preparedness ahead of the reopening on 22nd June 2020.

The visit took Mr. George Agyiri and his entourage to Asankrangwa Senior High School (ASANCO) and Asankrangwa Senior High Technical School (ASECTECH) respectively.

At Asankrangwa SHS, Mr. George Agyiri inspected works on the Assembly Hall Complex which had been abandoned since 1974.

He charged the contractor to ensure that the project is executed according to specifications and delivered on schedule. Additionally, he inspected the construction of an ultra-modern boys’ dormitory complex which is about 85% complete.

At ASECTECH, Hon. George Agyiri inspected construction work on a new 12 unit classroom project and a 3 unit classroom project respectively. Both projects are at about 85% stages of completion.


The MCE charged the management of the two schools to ensure that students and staff members observe the necessary precautionary safety protocols on reopening.

As part of the effort to combat COVID 19, he has assured management on the provision of Veronica buckets, nose masks, infrared thermometer gauges and other safety measures. He, additionally, promised to ensure regular checks and monitoring of activities in the two schools to make sure they are abiding by the government's directives and added that, appropriate sanctions would be given to any head of school who flouts the given directives.



Hon. George Agyiri was accompanied by the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Saaka Ibrahim, Municipal BNI Director and Heads of Departments at the Assembly.
