The Netherlands is a major consumer of Ghana's Cocoa and they have invested in the Cocoa sector of our country. The Embassy partnered with Solidaridad to build a Regional Service Center in Dunkwa.

The Team visit was to inspect the facility and know how it is helping farmers especially women in Cocoa.Mr. Jeroen said Women play a vital role in cocoa farming: they labour during the harvest, and between seasons their small businesses provide what may be the family's only source of income.

As part of the Cocoa Life project in association with Solidaridad , we’re working with Ghana’s Ministry of Food and Agriculture to train female farmers, who then go on to mentor other women to develop their business, farming and leadership skills. Not only is this helping cocoa farming families, but it’s also benefiting the community as a whole.

Mr. Jeroen and his team led by the Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Ebenezer Forson Appiah visited some Cocoa farms to see how the weather has impacted the farm and also passed by a farm where through the help of Cocoboard, an irrigation system has been piloted.

Speaking with Ghanadistricts.com, The MCE stated that the visit was particularly about improving Cocoa yields all year round. The discussion centered on how we can use irrigation to improve Cocoa yields.

The team from the Embassy came in the company of the Regional Cocoboard Staff.
