The voting which took place at the Presbyterian women’s international in the municipality, witnessed a massive rejection from the Assembly members, where 14 voted and 8 voted for her whiles 6 rejected her. The outcome of the result brought about some misunderstanding between party executives and the assembly members.
Electoral Commission representative, Madam Janet Koranteng, wanted to adjourn the meeting to the next ten days but the Regional Minister, Mr. Ishmael Ashitey, who graced the occasion with his presence urged all assembly members to vote wisely for their own benefit. “It should be one touch, we should go all out to confirm the nominee to move forward. You need development in your various electoral areas; therefore you need to vote one touch”, urged Mr. Ashitey.
The Regional Minister’s encouraging words worked as the second round of voting came with very positive result with the nominee polling 100 percent votes. Thus all 14 assembly members voted for her. She was grateful to the traditional council, party executives and the general public for the endorsement, and stated that she will go the extra mile to make the municipality an enviable one. “I am honored and humbled to be nominated and then confirmed as the new MCE of this assembly, I assure all of us that with humility I will serve and make sure that our municipality, will be best among the rest”.
The function was chaired by the honorable Presiding Member, Mr. Jesse Nii Noi Anum and endorsed by the electoral commission, Madam Janet Koranteng. Other dignitaries included Alhaji shehu Awudu Kadiri Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD), Mr. Kwao Sackey immediate past Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Chiefs in the municipality among others.
