So far, one Municipal Chief Executive and a District Chief Executive in the persons of Alhaji Tahiru Issahaku and Mr Nadi Sanda Imoro have been confirmed for Wa Municipal and Daffiama-Bussie-Issa Assembly out of the 11 district assemblies in the region.

Barring any hitch, all the remaining nine district Assemblies in the region would emulate the shining example of the Wa Municipal and Daffiama-Bussie-Issa District Assembly by endorsing their nominees.

The 44 member house of the Wa Municipal Assembly voted unanimously for Alhaji Issahaku.

Alhaji Issahaku in a victory speech, called for collective efforts to address education, food and agriculture, health, energy, water and sanitation, as well as road infrastructure development and security challenges in the municipality.

He said in pursuance of the various aspects of development of the municipality, more attention should be focused on poverty alleviation, fighting basic health problems and ignorance and illiteracy, which impeded the development and progress of the people.

‘‘The electioneering campaigns were over and all should come on-board to push the development agenda of the municipality forward’’, he said, while assuring that his leadership would unite the people to fight poverty and deprivation.

Alhaji Issahaku gave the assurance that he was not going to be a Chief Executive for New Patriotic Party (NPP) members alone, but for all citizens of the municipality.

“My administration would implement the principles of transparency and accountability to ensure effective and efficient utilisation of resources for the benefit of the people.

“My supervision would also avoid division, factionalism and sectionalism in the Assembly to help propel the local economy on the path to sustainable growth and prosperity in line with the NPP’s development agenda”, he said.

Alhaji Issahaku said security was a topmost priority and promised to work with government security agencies and traditional rulers to find a lasting solution to the various pockets of insecurity situations in the municipality to enhance unity and development.

He urged residents to be responsible towards improving sanitation conditions in the municipality.
