Obuasi MCE nominee Elijah Adansi Bonah confirmed

Mr. Bonah who until his nomination served as the Assembly member representing the people of Sanso in the Obuasi Municipality pulled a total of 37 votes out of 55 votes cast on the day.
This represented 67% of the total votes with 17 dissenting votes and 1 rejected in an election supervised by the Electoral Commission.
Before the elections, the Member of Parliament for the Obuasi East Constituency, Honorable Dr. Boakye Yiadom praised the Assembly Members for upholding the unity of the house.
He seized the opportunity to appeal to them to rally behind the President’s nominee by voting overwhelmingly for him.
The Presiding Members for the Obuasi Municipal Assembly and the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Honorable Faustina Amissah and Honorable Abraham Boadi respectively, added their voices to the call on the Assembly Members to vote massively for the MCE nominee.
In his acceptance speech, the Municipal Chief Executive- Elect, Honorable Elijah Adansi Bonah thanked the President, His Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo for his appointment. He also expressed gratitude to the Assembly Members for their endorsement.
He offered an olive branch to other aspirants who also vied for the position and called for all hands on deck in championing the cause for the development of the mining town.
Meanwhile, there were disagreements before the actual voting started on the eligibility of the nominee to cast his vote. This was on the backdrop of the fact that the nominee was himself, an Assembly member. The disagreements were however settled by the Municipal Director of the Electoral Commission, Mr. Thomas Biyimba who cleared the Nominee to vote.
