Speaking during the presentation he stated that, even though all Constituencies in the Region had benefitted from government’s ‘One Constituency, One Ambulance’ initiative, the National ambulances could not transport patients in very remote areas to health centres for care.
The tricycle ambulances, procured by the Northern Development Authority (NDA) from government's ‘One million US dollars per Constituency’ initiative were therefore meant to augment the National Ambulance Service.
The Minister thanked President Akufo-Addo for the gesture, which he noted was a need to boost health delivery in hard-to-reach areas in the Region.
“We have to thank Nana Addo’s listening government. He is doing a lot for the Upper East Region, and to thank him we have to vote to increase the Parliamentary seats in the Region,” he said.
Mr. Robert Alasgskomah, the Regional Coordinator of the NDA, said government recognized the health care challenges in Northern Ghana, and therefore, decided to address the needs through the Integrated Poverty Eradication Programme (IPEP).
He advised the beneficiary communities to take good care of the tricycles so that they could last longer to serve the intended purpose.
