The Electoral Commission officer announced for the availability of nomination Form. He reminded the House that whoever contested two times would no more be eligible to contest in the third round.

The two, Mr. Umar Sanda Mohammed, the Assemblyman for Nima Research Electoral Area and Mr. Abu Awuvani, the Government appointee could not garner 2/3 of the votes at the second round thereby making the E.C. to set another date and open new nomination for election.

On the second voting day, the second contestant, Mr. Abu Awuvani, the government appointee opted out of the contest leaving Mr. Umar Sanda Mohammed the Assemblyman for Nima Research a lone contestant but could still not garner 2/3 of the votes so the Electoral Officer postponed the election to another time.

On the said day, the Electoral Officer announced the availability of new nomination form to the house and only Mr. Abu Awuvani the Government appointee obtained the form and became the only eligible contestant because no other person filled the nomination form.

He polled 16 out of the 18 votes of the members present, representing 89% of total votes cast. A circuit court judge, Rosemond Baah Tosu sworn in Mr. Awuvani into office. Responding to his election, the newly elected Presiding Member thanked the assembly members for their massive endorsement and assured them he would work hard to ensure development in the Municipality. He further appealed for the support of the assembly members to enable him discharge his duties effectively and efficiently.
