He said over 60 per cent of the population of Ada West depended on agriculture for their livelihood, thus, the Assembly was determined to complementing government’s efforts of “Moving Ghana Beyond Aid” by making agriculture attractive, especially for the youth, to increase food production.
Mr Akrofi said this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Sege Nakomkpe, in the Greater Accra Region.
He said the Assembly would work hard to construct a central market and a lorry station at Sege where the farmers and the fisher folk would have ready market for their produce to resolve post-harvest losses, which had been a barrier to agro-businesses.
Mr Akrofi said apart from the two projects, the Assembly would also rehabilitate the 180-kilometre road network in the District to allow free-flow of goods and services.
