Engage in productive activities, PWD advises colleagues

Madam Victoria Konama, a Physical challenged trader at Odumase in the Sunyani West Municipality has advised Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) to engage in productive activities, instead of begging alms on the street.

“Disability is not a problem that should drive us to the street for alms begging because we also have intellectual capabilities to do business”, she said.

Mad Konama appealed to the government to support the PWDs to engage in petty trading and other viable economic activities to better their lives.

Mad Konama, a petty trader who benefited from a free health screening exercise held at Gyinyase in the Ashanti Region, expressed regret that some of her colleagues had turned liabilities.

The G2 foundation, a charity organization with support from the Sankofa International in the United States and the Gyinyase Caravan of Prayer Outreach Ministry screened the residents of Gyinase and its environs, particularly the vulnerable including widows, hawkers, PWDs, and orphans on various health conditions.

Mr Yaw Yeboah, a hearing impaired carpenter, and a beneficiary advised the PWDs to take advantage, register and benefit from the government’s social intervention programmes to better their lots.

Earlier, Mrs Gifty Nyarko Karikari, the Chief Executive Officer said the Foundation worked to identify and improve the general welfare of the vulnerable in society.

The Reverend Johnson Ackah Brimah, the founder and leader of Caravan of Prayer Outreach Ministry advised the PWDs to access the Disability Fund and engaged in entrepreneurship.
