The move, according to information gathered by Ghanadistricts.com, forms part of the Assembly’s preparations towards the provision of additional infrastructure to enhance the government ‘Free SHS’ educational programme.

Speaking at the Sod cutting ceremony, the DCE underscored the importance of the project, adding that the facility, when completed, would help ease congestion in the existing classrooms and improve on the school’s current infrastructure deficit.

He was optimistic that the facility will also go a long way to improve secondary education in the district.

Touching on the ‘Free SHS’ policy, Mr Ofori Atta revealed that, the implementation was aimed at removing parents’ burden of paying fees; especially those who cannot afford to pay their wards' school fees.

He therefore urged the students to stick to their books and study hard, adding that “the policy has lessened the burden of your parents and it is time for you to reciprocate the opportunity given to you by making good grades”.

Head mistress of the school, on her part, thanked the DCE for the support and fulfilling his promises to the school.

She advised the contractors to expedite work on the project in order to complete the project on time to ensure its intended purpose.
