Godwin Effah, the Municipal Chief Executive for the area presented the award letter to the beneficiaries as stated in the keynote address delivered by the MCE during the maiden edition of the Meet the Press in the municipality.

The MCE did not hesitate to applaud the Akufo Addo led New Patriotic Party government for the decentralization and the expansion of the government tertiary scholarship assistance to the MMDA level.

He observed that, "it is important and educative to note that the past awards of the Ghana scholarship to deserving students were distributed at the central government making it difficult for fair distribution of the facility, most of the needy but brilliant students in the various district's throughout the country did not have access to the facility".

Mr. Godwin Effah stressed that "It is heartwarming to note that His Excellency the President has ordered that awards of government scholarships should be decentralized to all district's Nationwide".

He added that the move by the President is meant to make access to higher education easier as it will go a long way to bring relief to parents who go extra miles to see their children at the tertiary level of education.

"As I speak, just two weeks ago, I on behalf of the President handed over scholarships to the tune of GHC66.000 to twenty-five students selected throughout the Keta Municipality who are schooling in the various tertiary institutions in the country, this is the type of social intervention we are talking about" he confidently stated.

He continued to challenge all the beneficiaries to work hard since this is a high-level investment Ghana is making into their future and they must go out as good Ambassadors of the good deeds of H. E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic
