The Minister, who addressed the first staff durbar of the RCC, noted that the lackadaisical attitudes of some staff would not be tolerated, and advised all to inculcate in themselves good working qualities and exhibit high professional standards at all times.

The durbar offered staff of the RCC the opportunity to interact with the Minister and management, and also put before them their concerns and grievances for redress.

Upon assumption of office as Regional Minister on March 15, 2021, Mr Yakubu observed that some staff of the RCC spent official hours on their mobile phones at the expense of their professional responsibilities, while others, especially carpenters, masons and caterers use official hours for private businesses.

That, the Minister said, must stop, and insisted that every staff of the RCC must report to work at 8:00am, and dutifully remain at post until the official closing time of 5:00pm from Monday to Friday.

He said Close Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras would soon be installed at vantage points within the premises of the RCC to check deviate attitudes towards work by staff for the appropriate disciplinary actions to be taken against them.

“We must change, and l will lead that change. There must be a complete overhaul, l am not going to tolerate laziness and l will ensure that everybody must work and work hard,” he told the staff at the durbar.

He said as management strived to ensure high standards of professionalism, motivational packages would be given to deserving staff, while those who desire to upgrade their knowledge and skills, would be given the opportunity to pursue further studies.
