NBSSI, Mastercard Foundation support 50 youth in Ahafo with startup kits

The National Board for Small Scale Industries (NBSSI), in partnership with Mastercard Foundation Young Africa works, has presented startup kits to 50 trainees of the Apprenticeship To Entrepreneurship (A2E) programmed in the Ahafo Region to help improve upon their businesses.

The items, worth thousands of cedis, were presented to trainees in baking, hairdressing, dressmaking and welding among others, at the forecourt of the Asutifi South District Assembly after a brief graduation ceremony.

Addressing the beneficiaries, the Bono East and Ahafo Regional Manager of the NBSSI, Mr. Kwasi Acheampong Abeyie, explained that the tools presented to the trained apprentices were to assist them begin working to earn some income, and also train others in their communities.

He disclosed that the NBSSI and other related institutions would keenly monitor the beneficiaries to ensure that there is value of money, and the said action (monitoring) would begin two weeks from now.

He, therefore, encouraged them to make good use of the tools, advising them to visit the Business Advisory Centres (BACs) in their respective districts to consult the staff when they have challenges in their line of work.

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Asutifi South, Hon. Robert Dwomoh Mensah, said: “With this, various assemblies’ Internally Generated Funds will surely go up, because the beneficiaries will pay their taxes”.
