BOSOME F: Health Directorate olds performance review meeting

It was also to deliberate on achievements, challenges and strategies to improve service delivery in the coming year. The meeting attracted participants from the various sub-districts and institutions in the district, heads of department, religious leaders, traditional authorities and assembly members.
In his presentation, Mr. Clement Nti Boateng, the District Director of Health said due to effective disease prevention and surveillance, the district has recorded no major disease outbreak for the past four to five (4-5) years. He told the participants there were expansion of infrastructure and facilities at the sub districts especially CHPS compounds to take control of their health needs.
Mr. Nti Boateng said as part of measures to motivate the staff to provide effective and efficient health delivery, a number of training programmes were organized for the staff. He mentioned absence of ambulance, inadequate transport like pickups, motorbikes and laboratory services, and inadequate residential and office accommodation as some of the challenges faced by the directorate in the region.
He also said certain key strategies used to address some of the challenges were effective collaboration with traditional leaders, the district assembly, Philanthropist and NGO’s. Mr. Nti Boateng also announced that plans are far advanced for the area to get a district hospital.
A representative from the Regional Health Directorate Mr. Osman praised the management of the directorate for improving service delivery to the people and appealed to them to look at certain areas like report delivery among others. Mr. Osman also advised nurses to improve their relationship with patients not being harsh on them but show love and compassion to them.
Mr. Joseph Frimpong Naayo, the District Coordinating Director for Bosome Freho, who opened the meeting, said the assembly would continue to collaborate effectively with the health directorate to providing quality health care to the people.
He said the assembly is pursuing vigorously the government agenda of providing adequate and quality health facilities to people, hence the construction of CHPS compound across the length and breadth of the district.
He therefore, praised the management team for ensuring that people get quality healthcare among the challenges they faced in the district. He however promised that the assembly would continue to play its role to ensure that the lives of the people are improved.
