Better Roads will ease Movement and Improve Quality of Life - Nkoranza South MCE

The Nkoranza South Municipal Assembly convened its Second Ordinary Meeting of the Second Session of the Ninth Assembly on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at the Municipal Assembly conference hall. The session was presided over by Hon. Adjei Siakwan Eric, who also serves as the assembly member for the Asuano/Barnofour Electoral Area.

In his welcome address, Hon. Siakwan Eric appealed to fellow members for their cooperation and support to enable him to effectively steer the affairs of the meeting for the advancement of the Nkoranza Municipality. He urged members to contribute actively to discussions for the better development of their respective areas.

MCE Addresses Legal Dispute over Market Stores

Delivering his opening remarks, the Municipal Chief Executive for Nkoranza South, Hon. Godfred Dapaa, welcomed members to the meeting and provided detailed clarification on a legal action initiated against the Assembly by some aggrieved natives. The lawsuit arose after the Assembly corrected the earlier allocation of newly constructed lockable stores at the Nkoranza New Market.

Hon. Dapaa explained that one Mr. Adu Appiah and eleven others filed a judicial review application at the Techiman High Court, seeking an injunction on the allocation of the stores to affected persons pending the final determination of the case.

"After carefully examining the law and the facts, the judge ruled in favor of the Assembly and dismissed the injunction application," Hon. Dapaa stated. He noted that this positive outcome strengthens the Assembly's position in the main case and affirms that due process was followed.

Peace and Security Commendations

On matters of peace and security, the MCE commended the Ghana Police Service for their efforts in improving safety across the municipality. He noted that the police continue to carry out intelligence-led operations, visibility policing, town and highway patrols, snap checks, and community engagements.

"These efforts have helped prevent crime and maintain public safety," Hon. Dapaa added.

Key Projects and Developments

The MCE also touched on several critical issues, including agriculture, education, the construction of the long-abandoned Nkoranza Community Centre, the commissioning of the DVLA office, construction of town roads, and payment of assembly members' allowances.

MP Announces Road Construction Approval

The Member of Parliament for Nkoranza South Constituency, Hon. Emmanuel K. Agyeikum, informed the house that Parliament has approved the construction and tarring of selected roads within the municipality. He also announced the extension of electricity to some communities.

In a major development, Hon. Agyeikum assured the house of the redesign and construction of the Nkoranza-Techiman road next year.

"As we speak, engineers are on the road taking plans to redesign it. All the sharp curves and sloping sections will be corrected for easy movement," he stated.

Call for Collaboration

Hon. Agyeikum urged assembly members, Nananom, and all citizens of Nkoranza to collaborate for the development of the area.

"No one can develop Nkoranza for us," he emphasized, urging all members to ensure they leave a legacy that will be remembered.
